I thought I would talk about a perennial favorite of mine, the fluffernutter. A mouthful in more than just pronunciation! Its deliciousness being more than I can stand, I must give recipe now so that you can create (though some of you already know how).
2 slices bread (less fiberier the better)
1 TBSP peanut butter (I like it smooth)
1 TBSP marshmallow fluff/spread
Butter for grilling
Optional toppings of powdered sugar or melted chocolate
Prepare sandwich like a grilled cheese. Toast in skillet on high until crunchy on both sides & gooey in the middle. Serve with a dusting or drizzle & a large cup of milk. Cold.
Alternative: this makes an excellent & decadent French toast. Prep sandwich & dunk whole sandwich in egg mixture before grilling it up & drizzle with chocolate.
Sometimes you get a boss not worth his weight in spoiled salt & yet, he’s your boss. This is a tough spot, but as long as his requests aren’t immoral, this text applies…
1 Peter 2:17-20 NIV84
Show proper respect to everyone: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.
Slaves (us), submit yourselves to your masters (boss man) with all respect, not only to those who are good and considerate, but also to those who are harsh. For it is commendable if a man bears up under the pain of unjust suffering because he is conscious of God. But how is it to your credit if you receive a beating for doing wrong and endure it? But if you suffer for doing good and you endure it, this is commendable before God.
A late night post, I know, I know. Been a bit busy & not slowing down! I have a big reunion this weekend & I’m getting ready. Food, like at most of my family gatherings is center front. 🙂
We eat… A lot. Some healthy, some not, but all delicious. So I just have a question of what do you feed your family when it’s hangout time? I’m looking for a new favorite to try out.
We have all heard of Colorado. What pain & misery has been bled through unexplainable horror. Oh our God is weeping. Weeping. He does not love us to be in such pain but this is an evil world. What humans have done through sin is unbelievably disappointing. We have failed from Gen 3 on. But the God of the universe feels & empathizes with our pain. One of theshortest verses has so much meaning.
John 11:35 – Jesus wept.
This verse takes place after Lazarus’ death, which we all know doesn’t last. Read chapter 11 again & study everyone’s take on the “lateness” of Christ & then study his reaction. He WEPT. He knew he was to raise Lazarus again, but he felt their pain & he grieved for HIS friend. He knows pain and he knows suffering & yes the cross is big on that but this is him losing a friend & knowing how much of a hole that leaves behind. What power these two words really have.
There are many links but this one hit home, & the tears flowed. I hope I know that a man other than my father (who’s awesome) would take link info of authority in a time of need. May God be with those who lived & must keep living.
Favorite summer activity is anything in the a/c!!
What about you?
I used a recipe from one of my favorite food bloggers. This “pie” tastes great but the dough she recommended (no refrigeration) performed poorly. I will not try to make another dessert with that dough again! Here’s the link to her filling recipe, but I suggest you use your own favorite pie dough! You will need to make enough to cover the bottom of a 15×10 rimmed cookie sheet & to top it off. It will look slightly like a large pop tart in all honesty.
Psalm 34:1-8 ESV
I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
My soul makes its boast in the Lord;
let the humble hear and be glad.
Oh, magnify the Lord with me,
and let us exalt his name together!
I sought the Lord, and he answered me
and delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant,
and their faces shall never be ashamed.
This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him
and saved him out of all his troubles.
The angel of the Lord encamps
around those who fear him, and delivers them.
Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good!
Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him!
I got to see something in theaters I normally wouldn’t have the opportunity to see; Singing In The Rain. Fantom presents older film special events. The worst part is their price. There is no discount or matinee price. But hey 60th anniversary showing: score!!
Go here for movies near you.
I’m still tapping in my head.
Pop pop popcorn!
Ha, I’m here to tell that stove top popcorn is as easy as top spelled backwards! You could use one of these:
Or you could make it just as quick in a black lidded pot, oil & kernels.
Fresh Pop Popcorn:
Coat the bottom of the pot with 1/8″ oil. Heat on high. Place a kernel in the pot until it pops. Add remainder of kernels until just covering the bottom. Salt to taste. Place a lid over the pot & remove from heat when popping slows to 1-2 sec between pops.
Remove from heat. Dump in a bowl & go!
**Now be careful, go lightly on the kernels, it makes more than you think!**
Sometimes we suffer because it is the consequence of our sin. Sometimes because it is necessary. These verses give meat to the latter. Just a quick blurb on how we are to use that pain & suffering…
2 Corinthians 1:3-5 ESV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God. For as we share abundantly in Christ’s sufferings, so through Christ we share abundantly in comfort too.
Something to think about…
