I have great empathy for those who lost someone at Newtown, Connecticut. What great loss is being mourned there, but God is still good & he is still faithful. I Heard The Bells on Christmas Day – Casting Crowns
Psalm 19:1-14 NIV84
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they display knowledge.
There is no speech or language
where their voice is not heard.
Their voice goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens he has pitched a tent for the sun,
which is like a bridegroom coming forth from his pavilion,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is hidden from its heat.
The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul.
The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
The precepts of the Lord are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the Lord are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
The fear of the Lord is pure,
The ordinances of the Lord are sure
and altogether righteous.
They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the comb.
By them is your servant warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
Who can discern his errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then will I be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.
This weekend was a long, busy, filled three day weekend & nothing sums it up like these two videos. Grandmother’s likes & our crazy. Happy Sunday.
What a hymn! It is so heartfelt & sincere. Most understand the background of this song is pure sadness & it adds a richness & fullness that scoffers ignore. What beauty from ashes.
Sometimes this is all you need to start your morning off right. Happy Sunday!
Sandra McCracken is great. A songstress with a voice soft and soulful. I love this version by her of thy mercy my God.
Makes me think of this part of Psalm:
Psalm 51:1-4, 12 NIV84
Have mercy on me, O God,
according to your unfailing love;
according to your great compassion
blot out my transgressions.
Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin.
For I know my transgressions,
and my sin is always before me.
Against you, you only, have I sinned
and done what is evil in your sight,
so that you are proved right when you speak
and justified when you judge.
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.
Mercy is mentioned over 60 times by the writer of Psalms by name alone; obviously this is a serious & needed characteristic of God, most often in reference to chastisements from God.
What sweet mercy He brings!
